Planktons in Sunlit Ocean is a meditation in motion—an abstract oil painting that captures the quiet chaos of nature's rhythm. Painted on a 5ft by 4ft canvas, the work unfolds in sweeping arcs of black and white, alive with tension, balance, and breath. The forms curve and collide like currents beneath the surface—fluid, unpredictable, and deeply organic.
This piece was born through my wet twine technique, where pigment and string meet a damp canvas with no clear plan—just presence. The process is one of surrender. There’s no forcing here. Only response. The twine leaves behind trails that feel like plankton stirred by sunlight in open water—adrift, yet full of purpose. Every gesture is unrepeatable. Every mark, a trace of what moved through me in that moment.
Though abstract, the work carries memory—of ocean winds, unseen life, and the invisible systems that shape the world around us. It’s a piece about emergence. About trusting what takes form when you let go of control.
Monochrome was a deliberate choice. Without color, the structure reveals itself more fully. Light and shadow become the subject. Motion and stillness begin to blur. And in that blur, something elemental comes forward—something felt before it’s named.
Planktons in Sunlit Ocean isn’t about the sea. It’s about what stirs beneath the surface. In water. In thought. In us.
