Discover the Harmony of Geometric Abstraction

“Geometry will draw the soul toward truth and create the spirit of philosophy.” – Plato

“Geometry is the archetype of the beauty of the world.” –Johannes Kepler

Contemporary abstract art has always fascinated me with its embrace of geometry, and the rectangle stands out as one of its most enduring and influential shapes. I've drawn inspiration from how ancient artists used the "golden section rectangle" to create harmonious compositions, how Renaissance masters expanded on its use, and how Hans Hofmann’s vibrant overlapping rectangles of the 1960s pushed boundaries. For me, the rectangle’s versatility and elegance are timeless, serving as a cornerstone in my exploration of artistic expression.

My geometric paintings explore the expressive power of rectangles in contemporary abstract art. For me, these shapes serve as containers of vivid, sensuous color and as dynamic contrasts to other visual elements, whether abstract or figurative. The rectangle transcends its simple form, metaphorically embodying stability, order, and a connection to architectural traditions spanning centuries. Its presence in my art evokes a timeless quality while continually offering fresh creative potential.

This exploration of rectangles underscores their profound role in contemporary abstract art, demonstrating their ability to merge historical resonance with innovative interpretations. Through my work, I aim to highlight the enduring relevance of geometry in the artistic dialogue, presenting the rectangle not just as a shape, but as a versatile and evocative medium for creative discovery.
