2021: My Artistic Journey: Embracing Geometry and Scale

In 2021, my artistic practice underwent a transformative evolution, embracing geometry and scale in ways that redefined my creative approach. Influenced by the transcendent color fields of Mark Rothko and the textured abstractions of Gerhard Richter, I embarked on a series of large-scale acrylic paintings that celebrated bold geometric forms and vivid color palettes. These works drew inspiration from Piet Mondrian’s neo-plasticism, characterized by strong rectangular shapes that established a dynamic interplay of structure and abstraction.

A pivotal technique during this period was paint scraping, which unveiled layers of texture and color beneath the surface, adding depth and complexity to each composition. The increasing scale of my canvases invited immersive engagement, both for myself as the artist and for the viewers, as they navigated expansive fields of primary colors and dynamic forms.

This year marked a significant evolution in my exploration of contemporary abstract art. While rooted in the traditions of Abstract Expressionism and Color Field painting, my work also integrated modern sensibilities that reflected my unique artistic vision. Each piece became a meditative exploration of form, color, and space, creating a dialogue between geometric precision and organic fluidity.

Reflecting on this transformative year, I see 2021 as a foundation for my continued growth in contemporary abstract art. The geometric focus and innovative techniques that defined this period remain central to my practice, driving my curiosity to further expand the boundaries of form and expression.
